The arrival of Galeries Lafayette in Mumbai marked a defining moment for India’s luxury and fashion landscape —and we had the opportunity to document the scale, elegance, and energy behind it all.

Hosted by the Aditya Birla Group, the launch celebration began at the iconic Gateway of India, where guests boarded a flotilla of yachts that carried them across the Arabian Sea to an exclusive evening event celebrating the French maison’s arrival in India. From the very beginning, the experience felt immersive and thoughtfully curated, blending Mumbai’s timeless character with the sophistication and grandeur associated with Galeries Lafayette globally.


Located in the heart of Kala Ghoda, the flagship store spans over 90,000 sq. ft. across the historic Turner Morrison and Voltas House buildings. Designed by London-based Virgile + Partners, the space beautifully balances heritage architecture with a contemporary luxury aesthetic. Every detail from the restored interiors and sweeping archways to the visual merchandising and curated layouts that contributed to an experience that feels elevated, immersive, and intentionally designed.


Housing over 250 global luxury, beauty, and streetwear brands, including Jacquemus, Byredo, and Hermès Beauté, the flagship introduces a new kind of retail experience to Mumbai -- one that goes beyond shopping and feels rooted in culture, design, and storytelling. The scale of the store, combined with the atmosphere of the launch evening, made it clear that this was more than just a brand opening; it was a landmark moment for luxury retail in India.


Our approach to the coverage was cinematic, dynamic, and detail-driven, capturing not just the grandeur of the event, but also the emotion, movement, and atmosphere surrounding it. From wide shots of the yachts arriving against the Mumbai skyline to the energy inside the store and celebration spaces, every frame was designed to reflect the scale and significance of this launch in a way that felt immersive and visually powerful.
