Lakmé Fashion Week x FDCI March 2026: A Celebration of New Indian Fashion
The March 2026 edition of Lakmé Fashion Week x FDCI, held from March 19–22 at Mumbai’s Jio World Convention Centre, brought together some of the most exciting voices in Indian fashion, moving effortlessly between heritage, experimentation, craftsmanship and contemporary design. Across four days, the runway became a space for designers to challenge familiar ideas of Indian fashion while introducing fresh silhouettes, materials and perspectives.
From AK|OK by Anamika Khanna’s immersive opening showcase and its debut menswear line to Satya Paul’scollaboration with Aditi Rao Hydari, the collections explored tradition through distinctly modern eyes. Anurag Gupta’s The New Primitive took an architectural approach to controlled chaos, while Amit Aggarwal brought his signature recycled polymers and metallic textures to a collaborative showcase with Indriya by Aditya Birla Jewellery. Abraham & Thakore transformed everyday materials such as gunny bags, bin liners and rice sacks into elevated silhouettes, proving once again that sustainability can be both thoughtful and visually striking.
The week also saw Aisha Rao’s Inter-Hana explore the meeting point between Japanese minimalism and Indian craft through muted tones, intricate appliqué and experimental textures. Kartik Research, fresh from his Fashion Trust Arabia win, made his much-anticipated runway debut with a celebration of retro-infused Indian menswear and artisanal storytelling, while péro by Aneeth Arora closed the festivities with Out of Office, a collection inspired by the modern working woman.
We covered the March edition as it unfolded, capturing a fashion week that felt less about following a singular aesthetic and more about celebrating the many directions Indian fashion is moving in — from reimagined heritage and conscious design to experimental construction and a new generation of designers redefining the runway.
